He is one of the founders of impressionism. Born in in France, he learned to listen and transform his perceptions.
Despite the criticism he went through, it did not distract him away from his quest for landscaping art. Monet and other impressionists worked directly from nature and their main effects where light and color. These effects made them unearth and discover new pictorial processes where brushstroke would result to an optical mixture from the eye of spectators. Monet yet perceived nature as a just a pattern of many nameless color patches. For example, he could paint the same object at various hours of the day and they would appear different because of the light.
Some of the Monet impressionist paintings include the haystacks, which he did for over two years. He could paint the haystacks in sunny or on gray weather. He also painted them in fog or in glazes of snow. All these could bring out different effects on the paints. The same concepts can apply today even in the photography scenes. When you use different lighting, it could change the appearance of the images. Through such light changes, the same images or objects being painted could change into totally different appearances or transformations.
