Happy Trails. Oakland December 28, Just finished listening to this show, via a quality Matrix of the soundboard and an excellent audience recording. It is indeed a great show. I could hear all the terrific high end notes, Bobby's slide running up and down the windings on his strings, Phil's bass punching out holes, Jerry's frantic picking, Billy on the left Mickey on the right, the new guy getting settled into his duties on keys and laying out some sweet interplays with the rest of the band, and the crisp clear vocals with all their expression.
Is getting a slight upgrade of this show worth the headaches that the "New and Un-Improved" dead. Should I go through the hassel just to get free shipping on the Jerry release? Is Rhino ever going to figure out what customer service really means? But, I miss the time when we all were glad to get the music. I never heard of a taper charging for this music, we just wanted to get this wonderful music out there for all to hear.
I have excelent versions of this show, also matrix and an audience tape, both sound great. I don't think being mean spirited about others requests is very proactive. You and yours have their way of getting the music, and others have another, do you really think that high def will be ruined because somebody downloads an MP3? So, I will take my download, or my old tape, or my old vinyl, it's all I got and it sounds great, even on my old stereo.
